SUMMARY:Life As Clouds: Regional Group Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Life As Clouds\, a group exhibition juried and curated by the students of “Professional Practices in Visual Arts” at Wells College\, explores emergent themes among artworks by eighteen regionally-based artists in celebration of the place we call home: the ancestral lands of the Haudenosaunee\, in upstate New York.  Collectively\, these artworks evoke questions about the connection between our human bodies and nature.  Through various modalities and media\, the artists explore eddies and currents existing in between our creations of self and our conceptions of the world around us. \nBodies are changing into vegetables; a dead fawn stares up from the ground.  Horizon lines are everywhere but maybe that’s just the flickering light from this Zoom call.  Our skin cells replace themselves every day\, or so we’ve been told – rocks flow and every thrift store is a waterfall.  Stone was never permanent and those boobs are actually caterpillars.  Is that really how a brain works?  It feels chaotic\, but it’s just softly unravelling: grids\, systems\, nets\, mattresses\, roots.  Click here to escape!  Or purposely deteriorate.  Our lives\, as clouds. \nFeaturing the work of Mara Baldwin\, Amanda Besl\, Mia Brown-Seguin\, Erin Connolly\, Ash Ferlito\, Mia Hause\, Julie Harrison\, Miranda Javid\, Travis Johns\, Shayna Kiblin\, Lily LaGrange\, Cecelia Lu\, Kym McDaniel\, Grace Sachi Troxell\, Dan Torop\, Paulina Velázquez Solís\, Hannah Washburn\, and Layla Zubi. \nFebruary 24 – March 11\, 2022 \nOpening Reception: Thursday\, Feb 24 5-7pm \nLight refreshments will be served. \nWells College policy requires that  masks are worn indoors.
