Does This Ring A Bell?

‘To ring a bell’ – to sound familiar; to remind someone of something; to awaken a memory somewhere in someone’s mind.

The paintings, photographs, sculptures, and other artwork included in this show are by Wells Alums known and anonymous from different decades. In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Bells, the exhibition also features close ups of the inner workings of the Main Building Bell Tower with portraits, past and present, of The Bell Ringers Club. Does This Ring A Bell? provides us with a collection of student artists from then and now. Past and present come together in one space to show the continuous experience of self reflection that college students all alike go through. Time becomes irrelevant and shifts to an immersive happening that within an individual feels exclusive, but becomes a collective experience.

Does This Ring A Bell? is curated by Sonia Rivera, Wells ’23, in collaboration with Jack Bjorkander, Wells ’16, Tiffany Raymond, Wells ’10, and Anna Ialeggio, Assistant Professor of Studio Arts.
