Attend a master class on experimental forms in small-press publishing and innovative writing with Kyra Simone, a fiction writer and publisher based in Brooklyn, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Faculty Parlors in Main Building. Then, Kyra will read from her story collection published in 2022 titled “Palace of Rubble” from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Art Exhibit Room in Macmillan Hall. Simone’s fiction and poetry have appeared in a variety of literary journals, including American Chordata, The Baffler, The Brooklyn Rail, BOMB, Conjunctions, LEAN Magazine, The Anthology of Best American Experimental Writing, and elsewhere. Winner of the 2022 ILS/Fence Magazine Fiction Contest, Simone is a recipient of fellowships at the Summer Literary Seminars in Tbilisi, Georgia and Nairobi, Kenya, and has twice been named a past finalist for the American Short(er) Fiction Prize. She is a member of the publishing collective Ugly Duckling Presse and part of a two-woman team running the editorial office of Zone Books.
