March Events at the Wells Book Arts Center
Open to students, staff, and faculty.
BOOK ARTS READING ROOM & BUTTON MAKER HOURS
Fridays, 1 – 3 PM
Morgan 3rd floor
The Book Arts Reading Room contains several thousand volumes of books about printing, book making, calligraphy, papermaking, typography, book history, and more. It also includes structural examples of handmade books and paper sample books. Come and browse — or come and use our button maker! Collage materials are on hand, or bring your own designs.
STITCHING CIRCLE AT DE-STRESS FEST: Embroidery on Paper
Mon, March 4, 3 – 4pm
Sommer Center
No experience necessary! Spend some time stitching into paper with Book Arts Center staff. Learn one or two embroidery stitches, and then create your own designs or embroider existing patterns and images into heavy-weight paper. Slow down, breath, and craft something beautiful with your hands.
LETTER WRITING
Mon, March 18, 4:30 – 5:30
Morgan 1st floor
We’ll provide letters, envelopes, and postage. You provide the message. Write letters to your representatives about Palestine/Israel or other issues on your mind. Or send mail to a parent or friend. Try our typewriters, write by hand, or bring your laptop.
ORIGAMI & POP-UP WORKSHOP
Mon, March 25, 4:30 – 5:30
Morgan 3rd floor – library
Join us to fold paper. We’ll learn some basic origami folds and also make a pop-up card. Please arrive at 4:30.
